Defamation, Employment, Chancery, Commercial Dispute Resolution

Meera has been instructed by both Claimants and Defendants in a number of matters, including acting for a medical company in defamation claims against forums. She has recently appeared in the Court of Appeal on the issue of the applicability of Lis pendens and other jurisdictional issues in defamation actions within Europe.  In the past two years, she has appeared in the High Court in a number if successful strike out and Norwich Pharmacal applications. She also provides pre publication advice on editorials and adverts that appear in Newspapers and other media in compliance with the OFCOM guidelines. She also advises firms on data protection and privacy related issues.

Meera appears at the Employment Tribunal representing employers and employees on all aspects of Employment law, such as unfair dismissal, constructive dismissal, work place stress and bullying claims discrimination (sex and race), TUPE and protection from harassment act claims. Meera drafts contracts, NDA’s and other bespoke documents to be used by employers.

Meera has also had a litigation practice that has been international in context and has handled high value commercial litigation as In House Counsel  that spanned across European and Scandinavian Countries.

Meera also lectures on a part time basis lecturing on employment law, contract law, business law and corporate secretary ship for the ICSA qualification and writes articles on employment issues.

Before coming to the Bar, Meera worked for the Royal Courts of Justice Civil Division, insurance and medical clinics and various solicitors' firms in London. She has also worked as a volunteer intern for INTERIGHTS and law centres, and appeared on Asian satellite television advising on public law related issues.
