Syed completed his pupillage in Chambers. He regularly appears in commercial, banking, landlord and tenant, debt recovery and consumer credit matters in the county court. He is developing an international commercial practice, having worked in Singapore and Bangladesh and appeared before ICSID, SIAC and LMAA arbitral tribunals in multi-jurisdictional disputes relating to foreign investment, banking and shipping, as well as JCT construction arbitrations under the CIMAR rules. He was one of the lawyers for the respondents in Saipem S.p.A v. The People’s Republic of Bangladesh (ICSID Case No. ARB/05/7) (decision on jurisdiction 21 March 2007; award on merits 30 June 2009).
