Helen undertakes a broad practice in commercial chancery work with a particular focus in insolvency, company, contractual and property matters. She also undertakes work in general common law, personal injury, road traffic, credit hire matters, employment and immigration. This work includes advisory work, drafting and advocacy.
Helen has particular interests in environmental law, construction disputes, and also Private International Law where she undertook Direct Studies at the Hague Academy.
Before her call to the Bar, Helen worked for several years in law firms and in-house legal departments as a commercial paralegal in the shipping, transport, real estate, banking and retail sectors. She also undertook research work at FIELD and the IMO.
Commercial/Chancery: Acting on behalf of banks, insurance and utility companies at County Courts and obtaining orders in relation to debt claims, bankruptcies and enforcement of judgement orders.
Property: Acting on behalf of clients in relation to contractual claims arising out of building works. Helen has also appeared on behalf of tenants at the Leasehold Valuation Tribunal through her Pro bono work at the College of Law.
Employment: Advising clients in employment matters involving unfair dismissal, breach of contract and discrimination. She recently advised on an age discrimination matter, pending new regulations coming into force.
Membership: Chancery Bar Association, Bar Europe Group, Inter-Pacific Bar Association, UKELA, International Fiscal Association, British Korean Law Association(Committee Member), Bar Japan Law Association, Bar Council's China Interest Group, Australian Business.
She enjoys travelling, wing chun and is a Trustee of Good Rock, a children's charity. Helen speaks fluent Mandarin, Cantonese, basic French and Japanese.
