Prior to commencing pupillage at Temple Court Chambers James worked as an in house advocate for a large firm of solicitors in Liverpool where he gained considerable experience successfully representing clients in commercial, consumer credit and personal injury cases.
In addition to appearing in both the High Court and the County Court as an advocate James has assisted in the 'Redfern Inquiry' and in very technical ‘VHCC’ criminal cases brought by both the Health and Safety Executive and HM Revenue and Customs.

I assisted defence counsel in a prosecution which was brought by the Health and Safety Executive following a death at a construction site.
Redfern Inquiry into human tissue analysis in UK nuclear facilities
“The Sellafield body parts scandal” 2007 – 2010. Organs and tissue from at least 65 dead nuclear workers were harvested for scientific research without the consent of relatives.
The inquiry highlighted "unacceptable working practices within the nuclear industry, NHS pathology services and the coronial service" and concluded families' views were not always obtained as required under the Human Tissue Act 1961 for the removal of organs.

At the time of conviction this was the largest and most complex fraud of its type.
