Muhammad Nawshad Zamir is the Managing Counsel in our Dhaka Annexe. Apart from his litigation work before the Supreme Court of Bangladesh, Nawshad works as legal adviser to international banks, Islamic banks, insurance companies, IT firms, telecom companies, shipping companies and as the Specialist Contract Advisor to the Infrastructure Investment Facilitation Center (IIFC). In addition to his court practice, Nawshad regularly works in international arbitration under the UNCITRAL Rules, ICC Rules, and with matters involving Shariah law.
He previously has worked for the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia as a lawyer on power projects, aircraft financing and ship building contracts amongst others. Prior to working at IDB, Nawshad was a Legal Consultant to the Harvard Islamic Finance Information Program at Harvard University, USA. He also acts as an instructor to PGLOBAL, a consultancy firm, based in Turkey in their project finance course. Nawshad has been a National Consultant to the World Bank financed Case Management and Court Administration Reforms Consultancy of the Legal and Judicial Capacity Building Project in Bangladesh with the Institutional Reform and the Informal Sector (IRIS), University Research Corporation International, University of Maryland, USA. He is also a contributor to the Max Planck Encyclopedia of Public International Law.
